With 27 Hours to Go

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Ah, the end is nigh. I bought vodka and beer party supplies today.

Current tally on bids: $1926. Not only are we nearly double the goal I set for the auction (and no, I won’t dye my hair pink twice if/when we hit $2000), but we’re just $574 away from getting The Cuz to her personal goal for all of her 3-Day fundraising. How awesome would it be if half of her donations came from this wee little auction stunt?

Bids have been updated yet again. I’ve confused some people with my updates, which shouldn’t surprise anyone because me? Running an auction? Something that requires organization and logic? Yeah, that’s going to work. Anyway, when I update the bids, you’ve probably noticed that the new minimum bid amount ends in a 1 or a 6. That’s the minimum price the next bidder has to pay in order to outbid the current winner.

Bidding will run through … I always get confused with midnight and dates. So let’s say that bidding will end at 12:01 AM on Saturday, July 14th. That’s one minute after midnight, not one minute after noon and my God, I’m confusing myself so I’m going to shut up and move on to something I know how to do.

I’m going to list another auction!

That’s right. I fooled you. Not everything was listed at the auction’s beginning on Monday. Actually, not because I’m being a merry prankster, but because this auction involves two people who’ve recently moved and one who was damn near knocked off the grid for a few days.

My other friend Kim just moved from Arizona to Utah, and yet she took the time to organize her bead collection so you can bid on two of her Custom-Beaded Necklaces! The top two bidders will pick one pendant from Kim’s collection:

Beaded Necklace, pre assembly
(Click to see a bigger version.)

Then, you can tell her what tickles your fancy from her accent beads:

Beaded Necklace, pre assembly

Beaded Necklace, pre assembly

Beaded Necklace, pre assembly
(Again, the photos are wee, but you can click to see them big).

Again, there will be two winners in this auction, which starts at $10 $15. So go bid! There are still three or four other items that haven’t gotten bids, or are still under $40. Drive ‘em up, already!

Update Time!

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

You’re all a bunch of bidding fiends. You know that, right?

It took less than 48 hours for you beasts to bid enough money to give me pink hair. That’s right. We raised over $1000 in the first 48 hours of bidding. Right now, on Day Three, we’re at $1172.

Wow!

Now, I don’t want to be alone in my hair weirdness at the family holidays this year. The Cuz is less than $2000 away from shaving her head. C’mon! Keep bidding so we can both look silly!

I’ve updated all the auctions to reflect the current high bids. Also, if you look to the right you’ll see I’ve put everything into categories. There are lots of really great items that still haven’t received bids. Bid on them!

As a sidenote, to all you readers of my regular blog, it’s broken. It’ll be fixed soon. Sometime. Probably not until this auction’s over.

Let the Bidding Commence!

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

It’s officially midnight central time, Monday, July 9th which means the auction is on!

Here’s the deal:

1. Browse the items. Find what you want. Check out the minimum bid amount.

2. Send an email to bids@boobhaha.com. Put the name of the item in the subject line (it’s in bold in the listing). In the body of the message, give your name and what you’d like to bid. And say hi to my husband, B., as he’ll be wrangling your bids.

3. You have until midnight central time, on Friday, July 13th to place your bids.

4. Bidding will continue at a soiree on Saturday, July 14th. We’re hoping to liveblog the event. If you win the auction, we’ll contact you the next day. Or possibly Monday, if we’re too busy getting tattooed and unhung-over on Sunday.

5. All payments need to be made directly to Wendy’s official, secure page on the 3-Day’s official site. But we’ll cover that if you win anything.

6. Every penny from these auction sales will benefit the The Susan G. Komen Foundation via The 3-Day.

If you have any questions, you can email me at robindawn@gmail.com.

Oh! And feel free to promote us! Steal these buttons for your blogs, Myspace, whatever and link them to www.boobhaha.com:

And most importantly, thank you! Thank all of you. I wish I could give you all great big kisses. Or let you feel my boobs, if that’s how you roll.

Boob-Ha-Ha!

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

So, what exactly is all the Boob-Ha-Ha about?

My cousin Wendy walks the The 3-Day for breast cancer every year. And every year I devise a fundraising scheme that’s elaborate enough to prevent her from asking me to walk my lazy butt 60 miles in three days.

This year, I originally planned to host a Kitchenaid Cook for the Cure dinner party until a friend of mine offered to donate some of her fabulous hand-made purses to sell with the proceeds being pledged to Wendy’s walk. After a bit of snowballing and some outrageous displays of generosity from my super-creative friends, I scrapped the Cook for the Cure option (although you shouldn’t, if you’re considering throwing such a bash).

Thus begat the First Ever 2007 Boob-Ha-Ha!

Here’s how it works: This week, as hand-crafted donations arrive, we’ll be posting photos, descriptions, and minimum bids here at www.boobhaha.com. From Monday, July 9th until midnight central time on Friday, July 13th, you’ll have the opportunity to bid on these lovely items. On the first day of the auction, we’ll post an email where you can send your bid. You know, like a silent auction, but with email instead of little boxes and tiny pieces of paper. There’s going to be lots of great stuff - beautiful framed photos, hand-knit goodies, foodie stuff, purses, quilts, notecards, and I don’t even know what else because every time I turn around, someone’s offering something else!

Which reminds me, if you’re the crafty or artsy type and would like to contribute an item, please email me at poppymom@gmail.com before July 6th.

The whole event will culminate on Saturday, July 14th when a bunch of people will converge to celebrate boobies! Top bids will be revealed. Live blogging will occur. Potluck food will be eaten. And most nerve-wracking of all for me, if we raise $1000 by July 14th, I will dye my hair hot pink. We’re not talking some pink-tinted temporary crap over my normal hair color. We’re talking Gwen Stefani circa 2000 pink. You want to see that, right? Just like you want to see Wendy shave her head bald when she raises $5000.

S0, bookmark this site. Blogline it. Google Reader it. Do whatever you need to do to start checking every day because the auction items will start appearing very, very soon.
